Attendance Office

PLEASE NOTE THAT E-MAILS ARE NOT ACCEPTED TO CLEAR OR REPORT ABSENCES

Remember that you have ONLY 3 school days to clear absences, per district policy.

1. Written Notes must contain the student’s name, I.D., date of absences, reason and parent signature.

OR

2. Call (714)992-8630 or (714)992-8638 – 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM. You may also call after-hours and leave a message. (Due to high call volume, you may experience difficulty getting through during the day. You may send in a note to ensure your son/daughter’s absence is excused).

OR

3. You may stop by Attendance office, Room 27.

If you have any concerns with your student’s attendance you may call our Dean of Academics Services,
Mr. Scott Edwards-Silva at (714)992-8623.

Please remember that students MUST check out through the Attendance office before leaving campus. We must have written notification or have spoken with a parent BEFORE a student can leave. If this is not done then the result is an unexcused absence according to district policy. If possible, please tell your child when and where to meet you. (Please Note: students in P.E. and Farm may take longer to locate.) The student should stop by and check with the attendance office to be sure that a parent has called to clear them before they leave. The attendance office does not always have a student aide to deliver a note to the student.

Approved reasons for absences other than illnesses include traffic court w/documentation, funeral (immediate family), school-approved functions, performance competitions, pre-approved college interviews, subpoena to court w/documentation.

Unapproved absences include vacations, baby-sitting, errands, oversleeping, missing the bus, getting driver’s license (DMV), no ride to school, car trouble etc.

Doctor’s Notes: Any school official has the right to request a Doctor’s note if a student has missed more than 10 days of school in a semester, establishes an absence pattern on certain days, and/or 5 consecutive days of school.
